A review of celebrity gossip magazines at the grocery checkout line- and on the internet
If you are at the supermarket checkout and you are going to treat yourself to one celebrity gossip magazine, how do you choose? And which print magazines have the best online websites- so you can get a quick fix before the next issue? Let’s take a look at the different celebrity magazines and some of their differences. Celebrity Gossip Magazine: PeopleThere’s no doubt People magazine is the king of the Hollywood hills. It is the best written, best researched print magazine that relies on real, reliable sources (that don’t include the friend of a bouncer who knows Britney Spear’s bodyguard, etc like some of the other mags). People also has a fantastic website, including features like “Top Five Most Read Stories” and even a video segment on “What You Missed Over the Weekend.” The perfect fix for celebrity gossip addicts. Let Us Gossip: Us WeeklyJust a hair in journalistic quality under People and thus sometimes even more irresistible is Us Weekly magazine. They also have an excellent website with- and this is key- tons of great celebrity photos. When You Gossip On a StarNot that we’ve gotten into the depths of National Enquirer or anything, but Star is a notch down from Us Weekly in terms of writing and news quality. However, both the print and web versions are full of glossy, sexy photos- so is anyone really paying attention to the writing? The Star website is another juicy quick fix for gossip addicts. Celebrity Dirt: Intouch, OKReally, celebrity gossip hounds could spend all day on the internet comparing versions of gossip stories on the different sites. So, if you’re cruising for the latest on Lindsay or Brangelina, you’re going to have to stop at Intouch and Ok as well. These are the less expensive of the celebrity gossip print magazines- and we all know you get what you pay for- but that $1.99 price screams out at you from the grocery checkout… and you can’t help yourself. Again, these mags have lots of flashy photos making the paparazzi rich. Their websites are a worthy stop on the celeb web rounds, too. Celebrity Gossip More OnlineIf you don’t have time to read but are simply surfing the net for celebrity gossip news, all of the above sites await your advertising-sponsored viewing. There are also a bunch of other sites out there that have built their reputations on reliable inside dirt. TMZ.com, PerezHilton.com, accesshollywood.com (which is the sister site of its nightly TV show), Hellomagazine.com and tons of others are out there catering to your every celebrity gossip need. So whether it’s at the grocery checkout line or on your computer screen, go ahead and treat yourself to a celeb news fix! Read more about Perez Hilton.
