Hollywood celebrities are making headlines with their adoptions. They also spotlight the fact that there are plenty of kids who need homes.
Joely Fisher is just one of the latest celebrities to adopt a child. Fisher stars with Brad Garrett in the hit sitcom Til Death. She is married to filmmaker Christopher Duddy and together they have two children. Recently they added a new baby girl to their family. Their newest addition to the family is from South Los Angeles and is an African-American baby. Adoption has been in the forefront of newspapers and magazines lately because so many celebrities are turning to this wonderful way of giving back to society. Instead of adding more people to the planet, adopting a child who is in need of a loving home is a wonderful thing for anyone to do. There are too many kids who do not have a home and who desperately want and need one. Celebrity Adoptive MomsAngelina Jolie is perhaps the most famous adoptive mother, along with Madonna and let’s not forget Mia Farrow who adopted eleven children. Diane Keaton, Calista Flockhart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kate Jackson, Marie Osmond, Meg Ryan, Rosie O’Donnell, Cheryl Crow, Donna Mills, Valerie Harper, Nell Carter, Sharon Stone and many other celebrity moms are among those who have adopted at least one child. And when Nicole Kidman was married to Tom Cruise, they adopted two children. Marie Osmond often claims with a bit of humor and a lot of love that she doesn’t know which ones of her brood are adopted and which ones she gave birth to. She told Larry King that all of her adoptive children know that they were adopted. “They know that some came in mommy's tummy and some didn't, and they all have different circumstances …” Most recently, actress Katherine Heigl announced on the Ellen Degeneres talk show that she and her husband are adopting a baby girl from Korea. She explained that the little girl is a special needs baby. Many of the Hollywood adopted children are from impoverished countries, orphans of war or are special needs children. Adoption is a “Green” ThingYou could say adoption is “green” because it doesn’t add any more strain on the already strained planet. And in these days of helping the planet, there probably isn’t anything better to do than to adopt a child. The one thing each of these celebrities have in common is the love they feel for their children, whether they are adopted or not. According to Marie Osmond, she felt her adopted kids chose her. Some Hollywood celebrities do not want to go through the physical demands of pregnancy, but for the most part, Hollywood adoptions are because these people simply want a child in their lives. And there are plenty of children who need loving homes. BNC101
