Elephants, camels, Michelin starred chefs, and palatial hotels reportedly part of Hurley's nuptials to millionaire, Arun Nayar
Even if it’s a rumour it’s an awfully imaginative one.
The U.K’s Observer newspaper is reporting that Elizabeth Hurley, the British actress-turned-beachwear designer is going to marry multimillionaire businessman, Arun Nayar next February at an 18th century palace in Udaipur, India.
The paper also reports that the couple is planning a pre-wedding party/rehearsal on November 9 at Devigarh, a former Maharaja’s palace in Rajasthan, which has been converted into one of the most exclusive boutique hotels.
For the traditional Panjabi wedding, Nayar is expected to arrive wearing a turban on a white horse, flanked by family members on fabulously decorated camels and elephants. The couple will exchange vows at a house of flowers before retiring to a presidential suite complete with black marble swimming pool.
The guest list includes Sir Elton John and his Canadian partner, David Furnish, soccer star David Beckham and his wife, Victoria. Hurley’s ex-boyfriend, actor Hugh Grant and his girlfriend, Jemima Khan are also expected and they’ll stay in suites near Udaipur’s famous Lake Palace, which was the setting for the James Bond film, Octopussy.
The story originated from hoteliers in India who claim that Hurley, who is determined to have the ultimate Indian wedding, has drawn up a list of special requirements.
A hotel spokesman says that Hurley, not thrilled with its first-class reputation for cuisine, plans to fly out three specially hired Michelin starred chefs from London to create a series of menus for the wedding. Nervous about the notoriously erratic local electricity supply, she is said to have ordered that silent generators be transported from the Indian capital New Delhi - a 14-hour drive away - to ensure the party is not disturbed by Devigarh's own generators.
Several U.K. newspapers have also reported that Hurley plans two weddings and will need a total of 13 designer gowns. The first ceremony, described as a small family affair, is set to take place soon at a Gloucestershire hotel, close to her 400-acre estate.
Hurley’s future mother-in-law, Gunar Nayar, an Indian textiles millionaire, is also reportedly planning a massive post-wedding celebration in the port city of Mumbai for about 5,000 of her and the couples’ closest family and friends.
