Michael Jackon’s final days are about to be seen by his adoring public. Over one hundred hours of rehearsal footage, taken during the months of March right up until his death on June 25, 2009, have been compiled and edited into a two hour, one minute documentary. Tickets for Michael Jackson’s This is It are Selling Out Fast In an effort to garner as much advanced interest as possible, Sony Pictures, who bought the footage for a reported $60 million dollars, began advanced ticket sales on September 27. According to the Associated Press, three thousand tickets for the September 27 advanced screening in LA sold out in just two hours. Tickets sold in record numbers all across the globe, including Japan, where nearly one million dollars worth of tickets sold on Sunday alone. In London, the advanced sales surpassed records previously set for the Harry Potter films and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Additional records have been reported in Belgium, Holland, New Zealand, and Sweden. Where to buy tickets for This is It The good news is that tickets are still available for some showings. Tickets can be purchased on all major web-based ticket sites, as well as at the movie’s official site, www.thisisit-movie.com. Simply enter the zip code of the desired city and any available showings will pop up. The film will be presented in standard 35mm format, as well as in several IMAX theaters. Plot Synopsis for This is It According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB), this documentary is “a compilation of interviews, rehearsals and backstage footage of Michael Jackson as he prepared for his series of sold-out shows in London.” The performances in London were to be the beginning of a series of 50 performances at London’s O2 arena, starting on July 13, 2009. This series of shows was intended to jump start the performer's comeback, with hopes of it possibly turning into a three-year world-wide tour. It's possible that the show Jackson was rehearsing was intended to be the piece de resistance of his career. A news article from the movie’s official website adds, “....Michael Jackson's This is It captures the singer, dancer, filmmaker, architect, creative genius, and great artist at work as he creates and perfects his final show.” Much of the footage comes from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, which incidentally hosted his widely televised memorial service. Jackson died of cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009 after he was found not breathing in his home in Los Angeles. At this time, his death is being ruled a homicide.
