Sarah Palin Quotes; A Hot Web TopicSarah Palin vs Joe Biden in Web Searches
The Alaskan Governor is generating tons of web traffic, but it's not necessarily the exposure she's looking for.
It’s real easy, go to a popular search engine and type in “Sarah Palin Quotes”. The results are millions in hits, but that’s not surprising. What is surprising is the type of material that comes up. There’s everything from the serious political analysis, to the political opinion pieces, embarrassing things Palin has said, to just flat out jokes. Here are some memorable ones posted on-line. "As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." --Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS's Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008 "They are also building schools for the Afghan children so that there is hope and opportunity in our neighboring country of Afghanistan." --Sarah Palin, speaking at a fundraiser in San Francisco, Oct. 5, 2008 "I told the Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that Bridge to Nowhere." –Sarah Palin, who was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it. On energy: "I think God's will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that."--June 8, 2008, Wasilla Assembly of God Church “That's exactly what we're going to do in a Palin and McCain administration." --Sarah Palin, elevating herself to the top of the ticket, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sept. 18, 2008 "I'm the mayor, I can do whatever I want until the courts tell me I can't.'" --Sarah Palin, as quoted by former City Council Member Nick Carney, after he raised objections about the $50,000 she spent renovating the mayor's office without approval of the city council. "And we've got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable," she told ABC News' Charles Gibson in an exclusive interview. Palin vs BidenIn terms of search engines these are the numbers; Google Search for “Sarah Palin Quotes”= 3.4 million Yahoo Search for “Sarah Palin Quotes”= 41 million Google Search for “Joe Biden Quotes”= 2.7 million Yahoo Search for “Joe Biden Quotes”= 17 million Joe Biden gets considerably less hits than a Palin search. However if you look at the content of articles, blogs, and editorials the tone is very different. The quotes sound like someone running for office, not the punch line attitude that Palin receives. Compare the Joe Biden quotes; "If your kitchen table is like mine, you sit there at night before you put the kids to bed and you talk about what you need. You talk about how much you are worried about being able to pay the bills. Ladies and gentlemen, that is not a worry John McCain has to worry about. It's a pretty hard experience. He'll have to figure out which of the seven kitchen tables to sit at." --Joe Biden "There's only three things he mentions in a sentence -- a noun, a verb, and 9/11." --Joe Biden, on Rudy Giuliani "I should start with an apology to Rudy Giuliani. I said every sentence Rudy utters has a noun, a verb, and 9/11 in it. I was wrong. He called me to tell me after Pat Robertson's endorsement, there's an Amen in every sentence he says too." --Joe Biden "Yes." --Joe Biden, giving a one-word answer during a Democratic debate to NBC Anchor Brian Wiliams, who cited criticism of Biden's "uncontrolled verbosity" and tendency to be a “gaffe machine” in asking whether he would "have the discipline you would need on the world stage" “I think it gives suits and not the turbans -- the way it's referred to in the Shiite sector -- an opportunity to make their case that they have to, in fact, bring in specifically Sunnis into the Cabinet”, ... Fox News Sunday “You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.” –Joe Biden, in an address to Indian-Americans “The Middle East is hopeful. There's hope there.” While there are opinions and spin on just about every website. There’s not much argument in terms of the type of coverage. Sarah Palin gets a lot of it, but most of it isn’t good coverage.
