Card skills aside, Sophia Loren has enjoyed the adoration of the entire world for her unparalleled beauty over the course of her long career beginning with her 1957 breakout film Boy on a Dolphin. As Phaedra, a poor sponge diver on the lovely Greek isle of Hydra, Sophia was presented ‘wet and wild’ in publicity stills around the globe. During filming, Sophia was required to walk in a trench in order to give audiences the impression that her diminutive co-star, Alan Ladd was taller than she was.
