Is Susan Boyle set for superstardom?
When Susan Boyle first stepped out on the stage on Britain's Got Talent, it almost seemed like a joke. With her frumpy look, surely she wasn't meant to be taken seriously? Singing since she was twelve, Susan had always wanted to perform in front of a large audience. Amongst snickering and eyes rolling, it didn't seem like she stood a chance with either the audience or the judges. However, when the music began and Susan started singing I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, the voice of an angel was heard and a completely different attitude in the theater transpired. Susan was barely into the song before audience members were jumping to their feet clapping and cheering. She had suddenly won their respect. Piers Morgan referred to her performance as stunning and stated, "Without a doubt, that was the biggest surprise I have had in three years of the show." Amanda Holden remarked it was "a complete privilege," hearing her sing. Simon referred to her as "a little tiger." People Love UnderdogsUndoubtedly, Susan Boyle started out as the underdog in this competition. People can relate to underdogs. They give us hope that good things can happen in life. Underdogs show that everyday people can accomplish something extraordinary. Once her performance on Britain's Got Talent hit YouTube, Susan went from an unknown Scottish singer to a worldwide sensation. Is Susan Boyle the Next Clay Aiken?In the second season of American Idol another underdog made his way to fame. Surprising the judges during his initial audition with his rendition of Always and Forever, Clay Aiken went on to become first runner up and has launched a very successful entertainment career. Between singing, acting and writing, Aiken's has made his mark in entertainment history. Susan Boyle's Current SuccessAfter just her initial audition on Britain's Got Talent, Susan Boyle has been written about internationally and has appeared on numerous TV shows including CBS' Early Show, ABC's Good Morning America, and NBC's Today Show, via satellite. She's also been interviewed via satellite on CNN's Larry King Live. Susan's face has even graced a partial cover of People magazine. She's also slated to appear on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Susan's picked up a celebrity fan following as well including Rosie O'Donnell, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher. Is Susan Boyle the next Clay Aiken? They both came in second place in their singing competitions. They were also huge crowd pleasers. She certainly seems to be off to a good start. As for now, people just can't seem to get enough of this plucky, Scottish singer.
