The Los Angeles Times ran a terrific story over the weekend that inspired me to write a similar blog about the rise and fall of a starlet's career.
May 2005: Leggy blonde, Angie Hirt from Arizona, is named America's<i/> Next Top Model and is spirited away to the easy, breezy, beautiful Cover Girl catwalk.
June 2005: Angie does the talk show circuit, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Late Night with David Letterman, et al. She announces that, in addition to modeling, she is developing her own clothing line, bath and beauty products, and a line of children's books. She gives books to Letterman and sprays Funkalicious Peach Body Wash on his trousers to show that it won't leave a stain.
September 2005: Angie appears on the cover of Glamour, Vanity Fair, and O magazines and discusses how she broke her heroin addiction, her three failed marriages, and her dream to become a diving champion.
December 2005: Angie is photographed wearing Dickie jeans and a Target T-shirt while lunching at Ivy with Brad Pitt. The next day, she is seen leaving Kitson's boutique with Britney's Kevin Federline. That evening, she attends a Laker's game and cuddles courtside with Jude Law. On Christmas Eve, she and Anne Heche exchange loyalty vows at a Las Vegas club. Fans are confused.
January 2006: Leaving a nightclub drunk, Angie knocks over Pink's Hot Dog Stand (a Hollywood landmark) with her red Range Rover. Police have no problem finding witnesses and Angie is sentenced to 30 days of community service. She embraces Kabbalah.
March 2006: During a publicity tour for Cover Girl, Angie falls in love with the state of Wyoming and decides she simply must adopt a gay baby. She puts in her adoption papers and waits for a call from the state agency. It never comes. She approaches the UN desperate to become a goodwill ambassador. They turn her down saying they have enough humongous and fragile egos traipsing around the globe on their behalf.
May 2006: Angie discovered walking barefoot in the Mojave Desert in torn clothing. She tells police that aliens were chasing her. Inspired by her experiences, a hotshot sci-fi director offers her the lead in his newest film, which is set on one of Saturn's rings. Angie appears on Larry King Live, apologizes for her erratic behaviour. Still, scripts are flooding in and she is carefully coordinating her next move by posing for Playboy.
