A recap of celebrity news this week

Yeah I know it's old news but I have some final thoughts about Rock Star: Supernova.

Wednesday was nuts. At 7:30 a.m., I went down to the CBS lot on Fairfax and 3rd and even at that hour, the street was lined with hoochie mamas hoping to be part of the mosh pit. A lot of them made it in for the finale taping of Rock Star: Supernova.

My husband called it months ago - he was convinced Lukas Rossi would win. I wasn't, I hung on hoping that a woman would front a rock band, hoping that Dilana Robichaux would take it all.

The bigger surprise came right after the taping during an informal chat with the band. Drummer Tommy Lee said he realized during the auditions that Rossi was "the one". Guitarist Gilby Clarke said he realized a few weeks ago and bassist Jason Newsted pretty much said the same thing. Sooo, I guess that means the show was a pretty good advertisement for the band, huh? Weeks of torturing contestants from around the globe and it all came down to first impressions.

Well, at least it was a Canadian. But the band is already at a disadvantage seeing as how a judge in San Diego ruled Supernova needs to change its name. An old Orange County punk band took the name years ago.

This is just a wee note to wish young Mr. Rossi, "a young punk from Toronto, Ontario" (as he referred to himself) well as he embarks on the curiously rocky road to stardom. Stay pure, Rossi, stay pure!

In other news, the death of Anna Nicole's son continues to dominate news media in the U.S.

The latest from the distinguished news service, AFP.

"A Bahamian judge said she knows what killed the son of former Playboy Playmate, Anna Nicole Smith, but is awaiting confirmation from toxicology tests before commenting. Twenty-year-old Daniel Smith died during a visit with his mother and newborn sister in hospital earlier this week.

"He did not have any external injuries on his body, so we can rule (natural death) out," Judge Linda Virgil told reporters after announcing an investigation was underway. "We do know the cause of death, however, I wish to reserve (it) pending the toxicology reports.... I will then be in a position to review" the findings, she said."

Smith, 38, was "absolutely devastated by the loss of her son," her website said after the tragedy. "He was her pride and joy and an amazing human being."

Daniel Smith was an aspiring actor and often appeared on his mother's reality show, The Anna Nicole Show, on E! Television.
